Kiedy to wszystko się skończy, wyjadę –
mówi – daleko, gdzie nikt nie słyszał
o moich szczególnych umiejętnościach
i gdzie rozmawia się głównie o pogodzie.
Mam zamiar nauczyć się parzenia kawy, nie gorzej
niż robiła to w kuchni nasza świecka siostra z Lizbony,
i każdego dnia będę czyścić osłonę kominka.
W nocy nie będę spać, chcę leżeć i słuchać,
jak śmietana skrobie się na szczyt dzbanka,
a woda odpoczywa w cysternie.
Chcę zobaczyć sad, w którym drzewa rosną prosto,
a żółty lis chowa się pośród granatowych pni,
gdzie w letnie miesiące zmierzch zapada wcześnie,
a kwiatom jabłoni wolno więdnąć na gałęziach.

EILÉAN NÍ CHUILLEANÁIN (1942) – irlandzka poetka, tłumaczka i akademiczka. W latach 1966–2011 wykładała literaturę okresu Renesansu w Trinity College w Dublinie, w latach 2016–2019 nosiła tytuł Ireland Professor of Poetry. Opublikowała jedenaście zbiorów poezji, jest laureatką wielu nagród, m.in. Irish Times/ Poetry Now Award 2019 czy Pigott Prize 2021. Tłumaczy poezję m.in. z języka włoskiego i chińskiego. Jest redaktorką naczelną pisma literackiego Cyphers.
EILÉAN NÍ CHUILLEANÁIN (1942) is an Irish poet, translator and scholar. She taught English Renaissance literature at Trinity College, Dublin from 1966 to 2011 and was Ireland Professor of Poetry from 2016 to 2019. She has published eleven collections of poetry; the latest, The Mother House, received the Irish Times/ Poetry Now award in 2019. Her Collected Poems was awarded the 2021 Pigott Prize. She has published translations of poetry from several languages, among others Italian and Chinese. She was one of the founding editors of the literary magazine Cyphers, and remains its principal editor.
JERZY JARNIEWICZ – krytyk literacki, poeta, tłumacz. Autor piętnastu książek krytycznoliterackich i eseistycznych, m.in. Tłumacz między innymi (2018, nominacja do Nagrody Nike) i Bunt wizjonerów (2019). Opublikował dwanaście zbiorów wierszy, za Puste noce (2017) otrzymał Nagrodę Poetycką Silesius. Tłumaczył m.in. Jamesa Joyce’a, Philipa Rotha, Seamusa Heaneya, Ursulę Le Guin, Johna Banville’a. Opracował także antologie: Sześć poetek irlandzkich (2012), Poetki z Wysp (z Magdą Heydel, 2015) oraz 100 wierszy wypisanych z języka angielskiego (2018).
JERZY JARNIEWICZ is a literary critic, poet, translator, the author of fifteen critical literary and essayistic books, including Tłumacz między innymi (2018, shortlisted for the Nike Literary Prize) and Bunt wizjonerów (2019). He has published twelve collections of poems, receiving the 2018 Silesius Poetry Award for Puste noce. He has translated the works of, among others, James Joyce, Philip Roth, Raymond Carver, John Banville, Ursula le Guin, and edited or co-edited poetry anthologies: Sześć poetek irlandzkich (2012), Poetki z wysp (2015, with Magda Heydel) and 100 wierszy wypisanych z języka angielskiego (2018).
